Jacob’s Ladder

4.03.21

For most gym members, the Jacob’s Ladder can be a highly intimidating new piece of equipment. But, to not give it a chance is to miss out on an excellent new workout option. This is because the Jacob’s Ladder provides a full-body cardio routine that moves at your own pace. It’s unique, it’s challenging, and it’s a fun way to burn a ton of calories. That being said, it’s more doable than most might think, so here are a few tips to help you get started:

Ask The Experienced – Besides the easy to read instructions printed on the machine, any personal trainer or experienced gym member would be more than happy to act as a guiding resource for you. If not accessible at the time, we also have instructional videos posted on our social media accounts, @premierfitnessofappleton and offer complimentary orientation sessions; all you have to do is ask!

Start Slow – Although the Ladder is fun, it’s also something new to get used to. That being said, start slow and move at a comfortable pace until you gain confidence. It’s self-propelled, so the faster you go, the faster it goes. Focus on finding a comfortable position for your hands as well as speeding up and slowing down the tempo. This will allow you to become more comfortable on the machine and leave your nerves behind!

Try A New Workout – Once you gain that confidence, try some new workouts! Although you will get an effective workout using a steady state tempo, you can also try interval workouts. For example, you could start with a 3 minute easy pace warmup and then alternate your next 7 minutes between 30 seconds of fast and slow paces. This will create a workout uniquely suited to your ability and comfort level on the machine. It’s also a fun way to decrease your total workout time while sustaining the results.

Overall, the Jacob’s Ladder is a machine that everyone should give a try. It’s a fun way to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone! It’s the perfect machine to warm up on, or an even better total body burner to finish off your workout with.
